People gathered in large numbers to various ‘Shaktipeeths’ of the city since early morning to celebrate the first day of the nine day long ‘Navratri Festival‘. Various temples of Maa Durga including Neemuch Mata, Karni Mata, Amba Mata, Sukhdevi Mata (Bedla), Chamunda Mata, Aavari Mata etc were beautifully decorated for the occasion. Devotees have to assemble in long queues to worship the goddess of power because of heavy gathering in the temples.

The ‘Baan-Mata’ was taken to City Palce in a royal procession from the house of ‘Bhatt ji’. Her highness Vijayraj Kumari Mewar worshipped the Baan-Mata and prayed for the prosperity of the city.

The markets are all set to make the most of this festive season. Shops were beautifully decorated and there was a heavy rush in many shops and showrooms. Many new vehicles were purchased and there was a hike in the sales of electronic items, furnitures etc.

It seems to be an excellent festive season for Udaipur as all lakes are upto their brim and there is happiness all around.
