Old World : Love Has No Age Boundations


Old World is a touching story of hope and compassion, with gentle hints of humor, providing that love can blossom in the most unlikely places between two lonely aged people, Dr. Rodion Nikolayevich, the crusty, old director of a sanatorium in Soviet Latvia first meet his difficult patient Lidya Vasilevya, a coquettish, romantic and optimistic but hates being described as patient. Painful pauses betray the emotions driving each of them inexorably towards each other.

Love, war, loss and denial are the forces that have driven them to survive in their contrasting worlds.

They first meet following complaints from each other patients of their habit of reciting poetry in the middle of the night and singing at dawn. She is clearly no ordinary patient and the play follows, with warm and gentle humor, the mutual growth of interest and liking, to lasting affection. They gradually become friends and relationship deepens as they let themselves get closer together.

The director of the show Mr. Bhupesh Kumar Pandya is a graduate from National School of Drama. He has worked in more than 100 plays in his eventful theatrical journey spanning almost 23 years. He has worked with many eminent directors like Padmashri Ramgopal Bajaj, M.K. Raina, Mohan Maharshi, Bhanu Bharti, B.V. Karanth, Pt. Satyadev Dubey, D.R. Ankur, Peter James, Rob Clare, John Russel Brown etc.

He has worked in the movie Vicky Donor (Chaman), Hazaron Khwahishein Aisi, Gandhi To Hitler (Neta Ji Bose), Dusshera and Jeet and serials which includes Kyunki Jeena Isi Ka Naam Hai, Hitler Didi, Kabhi Aaye Naa Judai, Gali Gali Sim Sim, Junior G, Circus, India’s Most Wanted, Ehsaas and many more.

The character of Dr. Rodion was played by Anil Dadheech and Miss Lidya by Rekha Sisodia which were appreciated by each and every person sitting in the auditorium.
